King Island Golf

Hit the beach. Watch some birdies. Enjoy a bite. It’s hard to top King Island Golf—and the new Cape Wickham golf course seals King Island’s reputation as an unforgettable golfing destination. Where else in the world can you play against a spectacular backdrop of thundering surf, pristine white-sand beaches, and magnificent cliffs?

King Island golf doesn’t end with Cape Wickham Golf Links, either—you’ll find no fewer than three world-class golf courses here. We were going to start this page with “you can’t golf all the time”, but on King Island, maybe you can!

No golfer? No worries.

Luckily for the golf widows along for the ride, King Island offers just as much entertainment off the course. If Cape Wickham golf has claimed your spouse, here’s what we suggest you do:

Enjoy the vibes... and tasty treats

Mornings are for coffee and contemplation. Wander through Currie, savouring the flavours of King Island. You’ll find fresh local produce and an unmissable cheese tasting experience at King Island Dairy. Or, try a rare delicacy: flavourful crayfish pie baked daily at the King Island Bakehouse.

Get inspired

When exploring our vibrant art scene, King Island Gallery is your first port of call—but not your last. Pick out a souvenir from a local artisan at the quaint Boat House, or, if you want to get really quirky, take home a King Island Kelp Craft creation.

If all this art leaves you feeling inspired, express yourself with a ceramic class at Wild Island Pottery, or join King Island Walks for our upcoming Paint and Sip at the Harbour.

Delve into dark history

Exercise your body and brain with a King Island Walks tour to the top of historical Currie Lighthouse, followed by a visit to the King Island Museum, conveniently located next door, in the old Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage. You know you’re in for some dark and gothic tales when no less than three rooms of the museum are dedicated to shipwrecks alone.

Take a walk on the wild side

King Island Walks can get you off the beaten track, with walking tours covering everything from secluded azure bays to wildlife experiences to breathtaking ancient forests of petrified stone. Or, enjoy the domesticated side of King Island with a tour of the charming Raff Farms, where you can also book idyllic farm stay accommodation.

Dinner and a show

When Happy Hour rolls around, get gleeful at the King Island Brewhouse or the King Island Distillery—or both!

If you prefer dinner with a show, why not join King Island Walks for our platypus and penguin experience? Trek to a hidden waterhole to watch the secretive platypus play, then enjoy a relaxed seaside BBQ followed by the comedy stylings of our local waddle of Little Penguins.

There’s so much to do on King Island, you’ll be nudging your golf-mad partner to get back on the green so you can get on with your adventure!
